I have been drinking distilled water for about 23 years.
A good story goes with the reason I starting drinking distilled water, and still do today.
I was a ball of stress 17 year old, a healthy athlete, hard working high school student. I've always had a sensitive stomach, even as a small child. Stomach aches were an everyday thing for me, before I ate, after I ate, before bed, etc. One day, my stomach pain was much worse than any other day, very intense, making me double over with pain. This intense pain continued for weeks, it was if someone were stabbing me with a long knitting needle. My mom took me to see the doctor, he ran tests, took notes and told me to come back in a week. At my one week follow up he concluded that I wasn't suffering from an ulcer or normal stress attacks. He had me fill out a questionnaire of my eating and drinking habits for 1 week. Upon returning my journal to my doctor, he noticed how much water I drank, which he thought was great, but questioned the kind of water I drank. We had moved to Florida from Michigan, and thought well water was just fine for drinking, so we continued to do so in Florida. My doctor asked my mom to drop off a sample of the well water from the faucet of our kitchen to his office for testing. We got the call from my doctor 2 days later, that our well water contained parasites. He told us that the only way for us to know if the parasites were the root of my stomach pains was to replace it with bottled distilled water. I drank only distilled water from the store from that point on and my pain disappeared. My other family members also started to drink only distilled water, and the weird diarrhea, head aches they were experiencing also subsided. Today, My entire family drinks only distilled .
As far as bottled water goes, make sure it is distilled on the label. I have really researched the hyped up water on the market and found it to be "designer hype water", not pure. People always want something more, simple pure water doesn't make sense to them. There is a great article about ionized and alkaline water at http://www.chem1.com/CQ/ionbunk.html, this is written by a scientist, not someone trying to sell you a product. I suggest this article and many more in my upcoming blogs, they can really help you decide what is the right choice for your body.
